Sab of Le Plaisir de Gourmandise shared this awesome version of Mac 'n Cheese with Presto Pasta Nights as only the French could. He added Fois Gras to the mix and here's a very basic translation...I apologize for any errors. My only excuse is that it's been over 20 years since I lived in Montreal and my French is very rusty. So here goes....
Gratin de Pates au Fois Gras...sounds so much more intersting than mac 'n cheese.
Prep time: 20 minutes
Cooking time: 20 minutes
Ingredients:
8oz/250g macaroni or other small pasta
1.75oz/50g fois gras cut into small cubes
6oz/20cl/170ml thick creme fraiche
3oz/10cl/85ml cream
salt & pepper
2-3 speculoos (crisp, aromatic cookies)
Directions:
Boil the pasta in salted water. They should be slightly under cooked as they will continue cooking in the oven.
In the meantime, mix the two creams, salt & pepper in a large mixing bowl and then gently add the pieces of foie gras.
Pour the mixture into a buttered baking dish, sprinkle with grated (crumbled) speculoos and bake for 20 minutes at 180°C/ 350°F
