Getting Ready for Jewish New Year Festivities

My trip to the farmers market today was a little different than usual.  Normally, the focus is on the meat.... gotta love the folks at Getaway Farm... and the package on the right is flank steak to celebrate my Honey's birthday on Tuesday.  I'm just not sure which marinade to use ... but I'll keep you posted.  That said, most of today's goodies focus on the upcoming Rosh Hashana dinner...

I already got the brisket from Getaway last week and my daughter, Joanna is probably cooking it up as I write this.
The carrots, parsnips and turnip will flavor the chicken soup I made and froze last week (that's at her house too) and the dill (you have to squint to see it between the eggs & the flank steak) will flavor half the matzo balls.
The Brussels sprouts, butternut squash and baby beets will be roasted with a little brown sugar and pecans.
We've already eaten French toast (to give me strength for the rest of the cooking) made with Brioche and free range eggs.

The baguette (also from Julien's) with some Foxhill Cheese Herb & Garlic Gouda will tide us over while I do the rest of the cooking.
To my Jewish friends - L'Shana Tova, and to everyone, may the year ahead be filled with peace, joy and prosperity.

I have no idea how I ended up on your blog -- killing time as the briscut browns and plunking he stumbleupon button for -- um...urban gardening? BESHERT I say.

L'shana tova to you too... enjoyed the post.
