Sunny Saturday in Pictou Nova Scotia

I'll be writing much more about the Pictou Lobster Carnival next week for Foodtv's blog, but I just had to share a couple of highlights....

The $20 lobster dinner complete with dinner roll, potato salad, & strawberry shortcake for dessert with a soft drink.

The fun Lobster Trap Hauling Competition...could you pull three 60lb/27kg metal and cement lobster traps out of the water in one minute and ten seconds? ...well then, no need to enter. Besided it's quite fun to watch on a warm sunny day.

To read more check back next week. For now...I'm just chillin'

OoOoO!

Say, do you know when the lobster season ends? I'm going to be in Nova Scotia in August and I'll be very bummed if there aren't any lobsters around.

Gay, it took them more than an hour to get that lobster in the air.

Ferdzy, have no fear...there will be lobsters in Nova Scotia. The seasons are short for each area, but lobsters are harvested throughout the year. Here's the actual dates for the different areas. http://www.gov.ns.ca/fish/marine/map/lobarea.shtml

And if you're in Halifax, give me a shout, I'd love to get together.

I'm so jealous. For the first time in my life I ate lobster in Ireland a month ago and it was delicious. Unfortunately, here in the UK they are really expensive. :-(
