Tomorrow is World Bread Day, 2007 hosted by Zorra of Kochtopf. I have to admit that "Bread" is my favorite food group. Don't roll your eyes, you love it too. My daughter has a bread maker and makes her own bread at least a couple of times a week. I, on the other hand, haven't made bread much since making challahs with my daughters when they were growing up. If you read the story, you'll understand.
I often make banana and zucchini breads...but they're not really BREAD, in my world.
Just around the corner is the best bakery in Halifax - Julian's with a truly awesome selection of freshly baked sour doughs, croissants, pain chocolats and a wide variety of multigrain breads like this...
Doesn't that look awesome...crispy, crunchy crusts outside, chewy, soft inside with lots of holes just large enough to hold extra cream cheese and apple sage jelly, but not big enough to feel gypped. After all, if you wanted huge holes, you'd order a doughnut or a bagel! This particular loaf (I forgot the name) is part wheat, part whole wheat flour, lots of seeds...caraway, flax and others I can't seem to identify. And look at the gorgeous pine nuts! So even if I didn't make it, I certainly am enjoying this on World Bread Day. What about you? Are you a bread baker or just a bread appreciator?

I share your love of bread! I'm often guilty of filling up on too much challah and shabbat or holiday dinners. And I definitely frequent the bread selection when served at restaurants too. So yummy...
I am a recovering bread addict. No, no bread for me this World Bread Day... and a shame, too. I love to bake (and eat) bread... but I have a certain health condition that necessitates a low carb diet, and that means *gasp* no bread for me. But yours looks oh, so good!
If I would have such a good bakery around the corner I would not bake bread. I never baked a bread before I came to Spain.
I' am bread baker but no such a bread appreciator. My husband needs to eat all. ;-)
Thank you for sharing your "Bread-Story" with us.
Two wonderful breads! Happy WBD!
Cheers,
Rosa
