The Big Move

Some of you may have noticed that I haven't been writing as much lately and that when I have it's been rushed. I've been using words like "frenzy", "crazy", "frantic" and here's why....

We're moving to Halifax!

Why would I leave all the wonderful ethnic neighborhoods and great food shopping?

Boaz, my delicious little grandson....need I say more? Don't you just love the toga?

Well, just one more....

Look how cuddly and Zen! That's Bo with his Auntie Sharron, who, by the way, has been an amazing helpmate. What a packer!!

Here's how un-Zen my home is - and this is the organized part! Can you guess how many of those boxes just contain my cookbooks and magazines? YES, I did pack my collection of food magazines. Frankly, I don't even know how many boxes are just food related because I also have tons of art books, novels (I only packed the classics) and sundry other books I can't part with. Just know the boxes behind the couch are 5 across and 4 high and actually 2 rows deep.

Truth be told, we've ordered pizza and eaten sandwiches alot, but last night we did have a wonderful salad with grilled & marinated artichoke hearts and avocado with the Fatoush dressing. The taste made us forget for a moment how upside down everything is. Somehow mint and lemons instantly transports me to the Mediterranean.

It's hard to see, but for dessert there's lots of fresh mint mixed in with vanilla yoghurt and the sweetest fresh strawberries and blueberries I've had this year. So with all this mint I can finally join in the Weekend Herb Blogging Event, started by the awesome Kalyn of Kalyn's Kitchen. This week it's being hosted by another one of my favorite bloggers - Haalo of Cook (almost) Anything.

P.S. It's the first healthy South Beach Dietfriendly meal I've eaten in a while. Passover and tons of matzo did nothing to help me!

Oh well, that's it for break time...back to packing!

Good luck Ruth! I don't blame you one bit about making the move for the cute little one in a toga! Hum..if I had to choose between the great food shopping and getting to pinch his little cheeks everyday the cheeks would win HANDS DOWN. Can't wait to see your blog from Halifax!

Myriam, thanks for the smile - just thinking of gorgeous Swiss chocolate calmed me down!

Cyndi, thanks - things are chaotic and we will be living with Joanna (who does have a great kitchen) for a while so it may take some time before there are photos of my OWN kitchen.

Breadchick, thanks - and you're so right. It's hard not to take a good pinch or bite out of those cheeks. We call them Winston Churchill cheeks.

I can totally empathize. We're moving in 2-1/2 months and while I've packed a lot, there's still tons to do. It's going to be getting a bit maddening as we get closer, that's for sure.

Moving is really a pain, but so worth it in this case. I think you're making a great decision.

Mint! I love it. I wish I had some in my garden, but not yet.
