WHB - Grilled Goat Cheese, Basil & Pancetta

Well it's Sunday - my favorite day of the week. It's full of rituals that I enjoy, like reading the Sunday edition of the NY Times in bed with my honey; late leisurely breakfasts that often include his divine French Toast; and an open afternoon of doing stuff we WANT TO rather than HAVE TO.

Today we're having a grilled goat cheese with basil, pepper and pancetta. The basil is so that I can do another of my favorite Sunday things - enter Kalyn's Weekend food blogging event.

Then we're having our niece over to celebrate her sixth birthday and we're going to have a pizza making party for dinner. I love watching kids get involved in the kitchen - that sense of awe and wonder at mixing new things together, when "playing with your food" is a really, really good thing.

What's your favorite Sunday thing to do?

Thanks ladies for dropping by and the kind words.

As for grilled goat cheese sandwiches...it always amazes me at how sensual such a humble dish can be. No matter what my mood, or if I don't feel well, this sandwich (and multiple variations) always has me moaning and sighing.

Thanks for dropping by, and barbie2be - I've just spent a gazillion hours writing posts and just got pinged with your comment. I guess it's time for a break on THIS sunday afternoon and what could be better than another grilled cheese sandwich.

No pancetta in the house but I do have some Italian salami that would go great with mozarella.
