At Least There's Blueberries

We've set a new record....hottest it's been in 39 years. Frankly, I'm not impressed. This is one record I could do without.

The good news...it's blueberry season BIG TIME here in Nova Scotia and I thought I'd share some of my all time favorite recipes with you.

My most favorite of all...Blueberry Minty Custard Tart

Quick Berry Sauce (great over anything...especially wonderful over ice cream)

Blueberry Mint Granita

Blueberry Pecan Bran Muffins (a perfect mid-morning snack)

And who says blueberries are just for dessert...check out this Blueberry Salsa...one of my favorite ways to serve grilled fish and steak.

or this awesome salad...Scallops on Mixed Greens & Blueberries

There are more, but this is a good start. Happy Blueberry Season, everyone.

Ruth - you are making my mouth water.

I used to rake blueberries in the Summer near Truro, and those wild berries are 100 times better than the big greenhouse version I always see in Ontario...

This sounds delicious. Can I substitute whole wheat flour for the white? I bought a large bag of whole wheat flour, 2kg I think, to make a whole wheat and oatmeal blueberry muffin from Kalyn's Kitchen and it will take a lot of muffins to use up the flour!

Cheers, Dee

Mmm ... Nova Scotia blueberries. Love your recipes. Here's another blueberry recipe from Chef Shaun at DesBarres Manor Inn:

Guysborough County Rack of Lamb with Fennel Pommery Coulis & Blueberry Beet Confit

Enjoy!

Well, if hot weather supplied you with all that, then it was well worth it!

I envy your gorgeous blueberries! They do not grow over here so they are imported and very expensive! Love the glistening tart!

Now if only it would cool down before all the blueberries are gone so I can make the tart again. ;-)

Thanks for dropping by.

Did you say you were sending blueberries treats Fedex or UPS - I can't quite remember
