The Magical Kingdom - time for Every Recipe

Once upon a time in a magical kingdom where Time has no meaning, there was a beautiful Princess with a fantastic kitchen. It had every conceivable gadget and appliance....a huge dual range from Wolf with gas cooktop and indoor grill takes center stage- not to mention a huge fridge and a freezer with endless room for stocks and other goodies. No matter what she wanted to bake or roast or grill or saute...the proper pan or pot was right at her fingertips. And whenever she bought a new magazine or a new cookbook she had ample time to make every recipe. SIGH!!!!

In my world, I blink and an entire season has passed me by. Sometimes the recipe sticks in my mind for ages and when I finally get around to making it...I've forgotten which magazine or all the ingredients. SIGH!!!

Take the Potato, Sweet Potato and Chorizo Sausage Soup I made last week when Joanna & Ezra came for dinner after a long day with me babysitting a very delicious Boaz....He has his first tooth - be warned! I knew the magazine wasn't too far away...I was pretty sure it was a fairly recent purchase...but what magazine? The day ran away from me...so I just did my own quick version....oh...THERE's the magazine...Bon Appetit , October 2007 - better late than never. Hmmm, apparently I forgot the garlic and some onions and a bag of spinach....perhaps next time. The soup still tasted delicious.

And I finally got to make the Roasted Beets & Carrots Salad with Feta and Mint- definitely worth the wait. Plus I had time for another Donna Hay Magazinerecipe...I used one of her rubs for Grilled Chicken with Spicy Cumin & Sea Salt Rub. Awesome combination - the sweetness of the roasted carrots and beets complimented the spicy chicken perfectly.

Even in my world, I can eat well - all of these recipes are South Beach Diet friendly and with so many herbs...thyme in the soup, mint in the salad and parsley garnishing the chicken...okay, that's a stretch, but still...lots of herbs for Kalyn's Weekend Herb Blogging Event which is TWO YEARS OLD!!! Oh my how time flies. Congratulations Kalyn. The salad is particularly worthy of such an occasion.

That soup looks great! So many chorizo recipes right around now - Maxine just made a great one too.

The soup sounds pretty good. I just made a pumpkin and chorizo soup though I used the mexican style of chorizo rather than the spanish style. I have been meaning to try the spanish style chorizo for a while now.

Hillary, Maxine's recipe does look good.

Kevin, I wonder what the difference is between Spanish & Mexican chorizo.
