Niagara Fruit & WHB

Just to make sure I squeeze into this week's Weekend Herb Blogging Event, hosted by Kalyn, I'm just going to submit photos I took today on our little day trip to Niagara-on-the-Lake. This area of Ontario is, not only wine country, it's also called the fruit belt. I meant to visit a few weeks ago when it was blossom time and would have made for breath taking phtos, but....sigh....oh well. Instead here are some shots of what will be the most delicious, juiciest, ripest, sweetest.....

plums

pears

cherries

peaches

grapes

More about our delightful adventure tomorrow.

Thanks everyone, for dropping by.

It's still a little early for actually EATING local fruit - the strawberries are ready (and sooooo sweet) and some of the cherries look ripe, but we'll have to have a little patience for the rest.

Hi Ruth,
Looks yummy fruits. We are also getting cherries here they are unripe.
Can you tell me how to make ripe

Vineela, it's my understanding that cherries won't ripen once they're off the tree.

I usually don't buy them unless they are dark red and very sweet.

Mmm, that fruit looks fantastic! We've been getting great cherries and peaches lately too (N. California).

I just started up a new food blog on Blogger with a few like-minded friends... mind if I add you to our list of links?

Hi there
I just saw surfing technorati and found you. I have an intense passion for food too (it's so bad bet it annoys my closest of friends- just a little bit hehe). Seeing all this produce was awesome! Thanks for sharing. I'll stop by more later
