Like many of you, I spent much of today watching CNN & MSNBC cover the devastation left in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, the worst in North American history. I was overwhelmed by the sheer destruction and for once, am at a loss for words. I can't begin to imagine what people in Louisianna, Mississippi and Alabama are experiencing. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
It is difficult to sit idly by when others are living through such a tragedy, so for those of you who are looking for ways to help, here's the link to the Red Cross.

Thanks for posting this Ruth. I have also been watching - it's quite hard to imagine all of the damage that was caused. Another place you can donate is The Salvation Army. http://www.salvationarmyusa.org/
Joe, thanks for passing on the Salvation Army site. Hopefully others will leave other sites as well.
I just can't imagine the suffering. I feel a little silly, writing on my blog about apples and the end of summer. But I just keep thinking that writing about life is one of the best ways to deal with death.
