I wonder if I'm alone on this....
Holidays are here (insert your favorite crazy, busy food preparing time of year), and you're cooking up a storm. So what do you eat in the midst of all this?
I confess...today I bought some pasta salads at Pete's Frootique. That way I don't even have to think about it. Which, of course, allows me to remind you all that this Friday, Ulrike of Kuchenlatein is hosting Presto Pasta Nights. Send your entries to her directly ostwestwind AT yahoo DOT de. I do have every intention of making my own dish based on a recipe from Ricardo Magazine that's been looping in my head for weeks now. You'll have to come back on Thursday to check it out.
Often during prime "cooking for a party" mode, I end up standing at the fridge and grabbing whatever is closest...hunk of cheese, leftover whatever, an apple... In other words...nothing substantial. What about you?

Pete's can be a lifesaver! You can buy so many ready made things there that you don't feel guilty about eating. I like the make-your-own salad bowls.
Happy New Year! May you be blessed with great health and happiness
You know, I always love when people "admit" things like this because I'm unnaturally hard on myself. I tend to think I should be making wonderful dinners on TOP of prepping for feasts when sometimes? I'm just way too darn tired. Deli pasta salads from Whole Foods are a lifesaver for sure. There are a couple I genuinely love.
Melissa, there's no Whole Foods here in Halifax, but as Kerry pointed out...Pete's is great and the closest thing to Whole Foods around.
And really,...I know....I feel so guilty, but hey! Truthfully, I'm usually never hungry while I'm cooking...all those great smells, all that tasting. Of course everyone else gets VERY hungry when they smell the aromas.
